Opinion ~ GOD’S WORD PROVIDES A SHELTER FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IT

… when I need a shelter, when I need a Friend, I go to the Rock!”

As a little child, I was taught to pray. I would thank the Lord for his blessings, pray for others then would ask God for things I wanted or needed. It was a good plan for me and over the years has proven to be a comfort.

I was also taught to read the bible. Since there are 31 chapters in the book or Proverbs, I would align the chapters with the day. Every morning, I would read ‘my’ chapter for the day giving me inspiration and direction. I would often read other chapters as I felt led.

Fear is one tool the enemy uses to keep us in bondage. However, the Word of God is our sword to fight such an enemy and when we submerge ourselves within the pages, faith overcomes fear.

Over the years, I have come to love the scriptures reading just the right passages at just the right moments. Today was one such day.

Read with me, Psalm 64:1-10, (NLT), known as the Psalm of David.  Look how fitting this passage is for today’s concerns. May you be encouraged, as I was.

“(1) O God, listen to my complaint. Protect my life from my enemies’ threats. (2) Hide me from the plots of this evil mob, from this gang of wrongdoers. (3) They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows. (4) They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly. (5) They encourage each other to do evil and plan how to set their traps in secret. “Who will ever notice?” they ask. (6) As they plot their crimes, they say, “We have devised the perfect plan!” Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning. (7) But God himself with shoot them with his arrows, suddenly striking them down. (8) Their own tongues will ruin them, and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn. (9) Then everyone will be afraid; they will proclaim the mighty acts of God and realize all the amazing things he does. (10) The godly will rejoice in the Lord and find shelter in him. And those who do what is right will praise him.”

… when I need a shelter, when I need a Friend, I go to the Rock!”
