Trump Now Accusing Pelosi Of ‘Treason,’ Wants Her Impeached

October 8, 2019

President Trump is looking to turn the tables on the woman leading the charge to have him impeached, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, by claiming she is the one guilty of “treason” and that she is the one who should be impeached.

“Having made similar claims against Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Trump said Pelosi has abetted unfair tactics in the investigation of his dealings with Ukraine,” USA Today reports.

“This makes Nervous Nancy every bit as guilty as Liddle’ Adam Schiff for High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and even Treason,” President Trump said in a tweet late on Sunday. “I guess that means that they, along with all of those that evilly ‘Colluded’ with them, must all be immediately Impeached!”

“Nancy Pelosi knew of all of the many Shifty Adam Schiff lies and massive frauds perpetrated upon Congress and the American people, in the form of a fraudulent speech knowingly delivered as a ruthless con, and the illegal meetings with a highly partisan ‘Whistleblower’ & lawyer,” the president said in an initial tweet.

USA Today adds:

Pelosi, Schiff, and other Democrats have made clear they will continue to investigate Trump’s efforts to have Ukraine and perhaps other countries investigate Joe Biden, a Democratic U.S. presidential candidate.

“It’s about a damning call in which the President pressured a foreign power to investigate a political rival, harming national security,” Schiff tweeted over the weekend. “It’s about our democracy.”

Some critics have accused Trump of “treason” – a crime punishable by death – for seeking to involve another country in the American presidential election.

Trump’s attack on Pelosi came during a weekend of angry tweets against Democrats, journalists, whistleblowers, and others involved in the impeachment drama.

The Washington Examiner reports Speaker Pelosi was greeted by Trump enthusiasts and chants of “Impeach Pelosi” during a South Carolina Democratic Party fundraising event in Greenville on Friday.

And:

Protests were organized by local chapters of the Republican Party to voice support for the president at a time in which congressional Democrats are ramping up their efforts to begin a formal impeachment inquiry.

“She’s not doing anything for the American people,” Joan Boyce, who arrived hours ahead of Pelosi, told the State, a local newspaper. “And this impeachment that she’s trying to push, it’s ridiculous. The country doesn’t want impeachment. All it’s doing is make people fight against each other, and that’s all she’s accomplishing.”

The Western Journal reports the Constitution may allow for the impeachment of legislators, as Senator William Blount was impeached in 1797. Impeachment is more commonly used for members of the executive and judicial branches of government.
